Jason Baerg is a Toronto-based, Cree-Metis designer with a Masters of Fine Arts from Rutgers University. He is currently a professor of Indigenous Painting and Media Art at OCAD University on track to becoming tenured. His fashion brand is called Ayimach Horizons.
This collection was titled “Sisopekinam: Medicines Lead Us Forward” and was a collaboration between Baerg and Melanie Monique Rose. The collection honors Earth metals and the color red and incorporated unique design elements such as horsehair and pressed botanicals used to create prints on fabric. I was honored to get to model for Jason Baerg again. I had previously modeled for him in 2022 at the SWAIA India Market Gala.
He is currently a professor of Indigenous Painting and Media Art at OCAD University on track to becoming tenured.
